An experienced J2EE developer is required to work on a client site in Dublin City Centre. Contract is initially 3 months but there is a pipeline of work for up to 9 months. You will join an existing team developing 3-tier architectures in the Public sector.

An experienced J2EE developer is required to work on a client site in Dublin City Centre. Contract is initially 3 months but there is a pipeline of work for up to 9 months. You will join an existing team developing 3-tier architectures in the Public sector.
Essential - Technical Skills / Experience
- About 10 years development and design experience in a variety of situations and implementations
- Several years commercial C/C++ in a UNIX environment (Solaris preferably)
- Current commercial JEE experience
- UNIX (Solaris preferably) experience
- Several years experience of UNIX shell scripting, and MAKE etc.
- Strong SQL
Desirable - Technical Skills / Experience
- Experience of a variety of architectures, especially3-tier, Client/Server architectures, and SOA especially JEE/J2EE on WebLogic and Tomcat/Axis
- Web Services and allied technologies and standards, including ESB, BPM
- Experience with JMS, EJB, JSF, JSP and some JEE Application server (BEA Web Logic, Jboss or Apache Tomcat preferably)
- Working knowledge of XML and related

Why Become a Contract Professional?

What Do You Need?
You will need a trading solution and an accountancy service which minimises taxation and administration while maximising your take-home pay. At Mac Accountancy Services we take care of the entire administration process. We receive your timesheet and invoice your agency. Once your agency pays your invoice we make payment to your personal bank account on the same day through online banking.
What to Avoid.
Agencies will not accept invoices from Sole Traders. You need to have a limited company structure, either your own limited company or an umbrella solution, where you are either an employee or a shareholding director of a limited company that acts as an incorporated entity between you and your agency.
With a limited company trading solution you are entitled to offset tax deductible business expenses incurred by you for business purposes as deemed allowable by Revenue. However, you cannot claim for expenses not directly related to you earning your income such as dry-cleaning costs, shoe repair or flying lessons.
Each time you are paid you must receive a payslip, and preferably a calculator spreadsheet to show the value of your billable hours. This payslip should show deduction for tax and PRSI and ensures that your tax affairs are always up to date.
At the end of your contract you should no longer be charged for invoicing and payroll services and you should receive a P45 which summarises your tax affairs for the year to date.
You should avoid companies providing accounting solutions which are worked on a scaled fee, or a percentage of your invoice value. At Mac Accountancy Services we provide our umbrella limited company solution for a flat fee of € 195 per month deducted before you pay tax. Our bespoke limited company accountancy solution where you have your own limited company costs €175 per month and this is a business expense which can be offset against tax.
Summary

Vantage Resources launch the revamped corporate area on vantage.ie
www.vantage.ie continuously evolves to meet the usage trends. In line with increased traffic to the client pages, Vantage Resources have launched a revamped corporate area. All information pertaining to IT staffing solutions, for all industries and all IT job roles, can still be found in the new corporate area. There are also some new features, such as a preview of currently available “top candidates”.
Prior to the recent changes, Vantage’s corporate pages were linked from the homepage. On October 20th, Vantage launched the newly revamped corporate area. The Corporate area, with all client related pages, can be readily accessed from the homepage with one click. The Corporate area hosts all the pages previously linked from the homepage as well as new information that can be viewed and navigated easily.
One of the new features enables clients to peruse a preview of some of our currently available candidates. On the right hand side of the index page, there is a scrolling list of top candidates with their key skills highlighted. Simply click on the link to view more details about that candidate. The Irish Microsoft Technology Conference 2008
The Irish Microsoft Technology Conference (IMTC) is, as the name suggests, a conference accessible to all Microsoft Technology Professionals, Users and interested parties. The conference originally started as a .net conference in 2006, upgraded to a Microsoft Technology Conference in 2007 and this year it has expanded into a three day, eight track, forty session symposium. The conference is co-organised by the Irish Microsoft Technology User Group (MTUG) and First Port jobs. Since its inception as a Microsoft Technology Conference, both Vantage Resources and Microsoft, among others, have sponsored this event - the largest Microsoft Technology community event in the year.

- VB.Net (ideally 2.0 or 1.1) VB6,
- Crystal Reports (ideally 11 or 8.5)
- ADO/ADO.net,
- Visual Studio 2005/ Team Foundation Server
- Oracle 9i/10g or SQL RDBMS.
- XML/ Web services
- Experience of full Project ‘Life Cycle' development
- Any experience of Sharepoint (ideally 2007)
- Any experience of Biztalk (ideally 2006)
- MS Source safe VSS or PVCS
- PL/SQL &/or T-SQL
Your previous assignments will have been in a multi-tier applications environment using .Net (preferred). Exposure to enterprise scale solutions based around DCOM or COM along with any knowledge of WEB services and usage of XML, XSLD/XSLT will be highly regarded.
Apart from a strong technical ability, solid experience of requirements gathering, design and testing phases will also be required. Any experience in Government or other Public Sector will also be a distinct advantage. This is a fantastic opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience with a first class MS technology team with a high likelihood of renewal for suitable candidates. This is not one to be missed!

Vantage Resources sponsor the Irish Microsoft Technology Conference
Due to the phenomenal success of last year's Irish Microsoft Technology Conference, Vantage Resources are pleased to sponsor the event again this year. The Irish Microsoft Technology Conference is organised by Irishdev.com in association with the Microsoft Technology User Group.
This year the event will be held over a three day period, commencing April 1st. Microsoft users nationwide and even some visitors from abroad actively participate in this annual event, which is now in it's third year. Last year over four hundred Microsoft Users attended the conference. It also attracts the services of Microsoft experts who are all too happy to present workshops at the conference. This year is also set to see some not-to-be-missed key speakers.
